Where to Buy Quality Used Golf Clubs

Terry Lane - Sunday 01.06.08, 12:22pm

Once you get addicted to the greatest game in the world, it can become quite an expensive hobby.  Golf clubs, clothes and playing the game can swallow up a big chunk of anyone’s income.

Because of this it’s worth looking out for second hand clubs and golf gear.  EBay always has plenty of new and used golf clubs and accessories but it does carry risks.  I have had both good and bad experiences with EBay and in my experience; they weren’t as helpful as I was led to believe when it came to making a complaint.

Therefore it’s better to buy clubs from a reliable source.  Golfbidder is apparently, Europe’s largest stockist of quality used golf clubs.  They are based in South-West London, but for those golfers not within driving distance, there is always their website – www.golfbidder.co.uk.

Golfbidder has an excellent reputation and every club you see on the website is ready for despatch from the Golfbidder HQ.

For those visiting the shop there is no risk.  But for those using the internet to buy anything, let alone a second hand golf club, it is a concern that the club will be in the condition that you expect and pay for.

Well, Golfbidder give a full 12 month warranty – and a 7 day no-quibble money-back guarantee with all clubs.  So as their website says, “You can test-run any of our clubs – and if you are not happy for any reason, simply return them within 7 days for a full refund.”

The clubs are either auctioned or offered as ‘Instant Buys’; and As I write this post, the website says – Golfbidder has 4730 golf clubs in stock today!

Please let me know of your experiences with Golfbidder, and of any other companies selling second-hand golf clubs online that you can recommend.

    Shop online

I want telling a bad experience that I came with the UK on-line shop http://www.gregnicholsongolf.co.uk

I am Italian so excuse me for my bad English.
I have ordered the 03-17-09 a driver TaylorMade Burner #1-Loft 10.5°-stiff, a bag WilsonStaff and five packs of tee for a total of £ 203 (the article which I had convinced to buy was the Taylormade Driver for the price particularly interesting – the other articles were added only for exceed the minimum of £150 because in the website was explained that for orders over £150 shipped in the UK the shipping cost was included in price).

Two days after the Shop informs me by e-mail that the shipping cost for Italy was £60 (about 30% of the value of the goods to buy!). I reply that I think the cost too high (the most UK shops on-line apply rates for Italy variables between £ 9-£ 19) and I ask the Shop to cancel the order.

I thought that the problem was closed, and therefore I bought the driver from another UK shop on-line: the article was regularly delivered few days later with £ 9 shipping cost.

After ten days, controlling the account of my bank, I see that the shop has charged however on my credit card the sum of £203! I ask immediately the reimbursement but the shop’s reply that this is not possible!
After various telephone calls, the seller do not accept my reasons (this also due to my bad English), so I ask to send the goods to a friend of mine resident in UK (for UK destination, the shipping cost was included in the price).
Also for this request the shop has created problems.

In the end (04/20/2009), the goods have been sent (in the parcel was neither invoice or packing list) to my English friend who, the following week, has delivered it to me.

With great disappointment I see that the Shop sent a TaylorMade Driver 9.5° loft (instead of 10.5° that I ordered) and that they sent only three packs of Tee instead of five that I have paid.
Mr. Nicholson refused to replace the Driver (he said that the driver with loft 10.5 ° was already sold ) and has not sent the missing goods.
I warned the shop that if the article was not available, they should have alerted the customer and allow him to cancel the order.

At the end I sold the driver wrong on eBay and asked to the shop to send me at least the invoice to have the guarantee of the goods purchased.
Up to now (05/21/2009), despite the many e-mail sent, i have received no reply.

I think that the seller does not behaved properly and which has not respected the rights of consumer.

    You can draw the conclusions.
    Thank you for your attention.
