Trevor Immelman beat Tiger Woods by three strokes to beome the first South African to wear the green jacket since Gary Player in 1978.
Gary Player is a huge admirer of Trevor Immelman’s and has compared the South African’s swing to that of the legendary Ben Hogan. He apparently called Immelman on Saturday night to wish him good luck before the final round at Augusta last Sunday.
Trevor Immelman first met his boyhood idol and mentor, Gary Player when he was just five years old.
“I’ve always dreamed about winning majors and, deep down, I always thought I was good enough,” Trevor Immelman told reporters in his post US Masters victory on Sunday.
Trevor Immelman’s victory in the US Masters golf tournament, has pushed him up the world rankings 14 places to 15th place.
