Yesterday Tiger Woods shot a practice round before facing questions for over 30 minutes in a press conference ahead of this week’s US Masters golf tournament at Augusta.
It will be the first tounament Tiger Woods will be competing in since the sex scandal and problems with his personal life hit the headlines back in November.
Tiger looked a little uncomfortable at times but was open and honest about what had happened and how he has had to make changes to his life. Rumours have circulated that he had used performance-enhancing drugs which yesterday he vehemently denied.
Tiger Woods admitted he has made some ‘incredibly bad decisions’ and caused ’so much hurt’ to loved ones. He also admitted that he needed five stitches to his lip following the car crash incident outside his Florida home but denied he had been under the influence of drug prescription Ambien – used to treat insomnia.
Personally, I am pleased Tiger Woods faced the press yesterday, and for so long too. Hopefully the media can write their gossip columns today and by Thursday everyone will only be talking about the golf and how great it is to have the best golf player of all time at the U.S. Masters.
Having had several months away from compettion it is going to be difficult for anyone to be a serious contender on their return, especially the Masters where everyone wants to play their best. But if anyone can, Tiger Woods can.
All eyes will be on how the ‘new improved’ more approachable Tiger Woods plays as much as ‘acts’ around the golf course and fans alike. But I would be very surprised if come Sunday evening he isn’t in the race for another Masters victory at Augusta.
