Tiger Woods hit a stunning round to break the course record at Cog Hill in Illinois and build himself what is surely an unassailable lead of seven points over his nearest rival, going into the final round of the BMW Championship.
Woods started the round with a bogey and was three off the lead when he approached the par three sixth. Some sublime golf followed in which the world number one played some sweet shots and finished the round on an incredible nine under par 62.
Mark Wilson who had shared the overnight lead, fell back in the rankings with a poor 71 level par. Brandt Snedeker and Marc Leishman tie for second place on the leaderboard with Padraig Harrington occupying third on -8. England’s Luke Donald is hanging on with -6 along with Spain’s Sergio Garcia.
