The Andalucia Open was great to watch over the weekend on Sky Sports, and yesterday’s final round went all the way.
Young Englishman Oliver Fisher, Frenchman Thomas Levet and the overnight leader Lee Westwood played the final round together.
Levet and Fisher finshed on 16 under, with Levet beating Fisher in a play-off.
Nineteen-year-old boy from Essex, Oliver Fisher was three ahead with six left, and was aiming to become the fifth-youngest winner in European Tour history. But nerves appeared to get the better of him as he bogeyed the 13th and 14th then hit the water with his 18th hole tee shot, and completed his disappointment with a bogey five on the extra hole.
Defending champion Lee Westwood, the overnight leader, finished three strokes behind on 13 under.
Afterwards, Thomas Levet praised Fisher stating:
“I don’t think I’ve ever finished a tournament this way - Oliver made it very hard.”
He went on to say:
“He will probably be the next Nick Faldo or something like that because he is a great player.”
