Donald Trump is today awaiting to hear if councillors approve the his proposed plan for a £1 billion golf resort on the Aberdeenshire coastline, on the edge of the North Sea.
The Telegraph.co.uk reports if today’s hearing is approved, it will be passed to the infrastructure services committee next week and then to Scottish ministers for a final ruling.
Protests have already taken place with organisers saying about 200 people took part in the event near the Menie Estate in Aberdeenshire. The main concern is that it would be built on a site of special scientific interest which includes protected sand dunes.
But Trump is adamant he will build the world’s “greatest links golf course” on sand dunes north of Aberdeen, and has already invited actor and SNP member Sean Connery to be the first golfer to become part of the proposed Trump International Links and promised him the membership number 007.
