PGA Catalunya Golf Course near Barcelona
PGA Catalunya Resort near Barcelona in Spain has been ranked among the World’s Top 100 golf courses in a newly published list.
The acclaimed 36-hole resort’s Stadium Course, which hosted the 2009 Spanish Open, was ranked 88th in the world by Golf World magazine, making it one of only two golf courses in Spain to make the exclusive list, published in the magazine’s June 2010 issue.
Augusta National, home of The Masters Tournament, was judged the best golf course in the world.
“The Stadium Course is one of the most extraordinary and exhilarating golf courses to play anywhere in the world,” said PGA Catalunya Resort CEO, Billy O’Sullivan. “There are no less than 11 elevated tee shots giving the golfer a dramatic and exciting perspective of the hole in front of them. Combined with sweeping fairways, mature forest, strategic water hazards and fast, true-rolling greens, it is a compelling golf experience.”
“To be ranked alongside courses the quality of Augusta National, Pine Valley and Loch Lomond is very humbling, but we are also very proud of our status as one of the finest courses in Continental Europe.”
PGA Catalunya Resort has once again been selected as the venue for the European Tour’s Qualifying School Finals, the third successive year it has hosted the event. Both the Tour Course, which is popular with visitors, and the Stadium Course will host the six-round tournament.
Conveniently situated close to Girona-Costa Brava Airport (5-minutes’ drive) and Barcelona International Airport (1-hour drive), PGA Catalunya Resort also features a comfortable, on-site hotel, ideal for golf breaks. It is the perfect place from which to explore the Costa Brava, with its 160km of beaches and more than 20 Michelin-star restaurants, plus the Pyrenees, with its world-class ski resorts.
The resort has also recently commenced construction on two show home villas, two tennis courts, two paddle courts and a security lodge, as part of an exclusive new community and Private Club.
PGA Catalunya Resort, the 2009 Spanish Open venue is one of only two courses in Spain on the exclusive Top 100 golf courses in the world list.

Looks like a beautiful course; would be nice to put a round in there in the glorious sunshine rather than the usual Scottish rain!

Amazing course and one we have lined up to feature on our new site when we extend to Europe shortly.
Enjoying the blog. Very interested to know what you think of our new golf site? We’ve only been live a couple of weeks but 500+ venues featured, I thought it may be of interest to your readers? Please let us know what you think. Thank you.

We are a group travelling to PGA Catalunya 2-4 times every year. Here we have our Ryder Cup and other competitions. Other places like Marbella, Cannes, Lisboa can no longer compete with this extraordinary place. When we come down from Oslo, Norway to PGA Catalunya we use to say “its nice to be home again”.
