It was all captured in that wonderful moment after the 2007 British Open when Padraig Harrington let out to the press what his little kid would do with the Claret Jug, "My son wants to collect ladybugs and keep them there," Harrington said.

That little moment signified the humility of the man who had just won the most important tournament in his life and in that moment he was happily willing to let Harrington Jr. collect ladybugs in the Claret Jug.

He is quite the ideal champion. A champion golfer and a modest human being, a terrific ambassador for the game and with that toothy grin of his, he is sure to win over fans. You don’t have to be a loud character or an entertainer on course to bring in the galleries to have a rock star like following; if he continues to add major championships to his kitty he will soon become the cherished golfer for the golfing world and I will not be surprised if he becomes a darling of the public, a bit like Arnie Palmer in the late 50’s and 60’s when he was the real public hero before Nickluas took over that mantle from the ‘King’.
