Kenny Perry outscored Tiger Woods by five shots in Georgia to lead the Tour Championship by two strokes going into the final round of the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup finale.
Perry fired an incredible 64 to go 8 under in the tournament at the East Lake Golf club, leaving Woods in the shade on the day as the number one was once again troubled by poor putting. However at two shot’s behind his American compatriot, Woods is in a great place to win the Championship, guaranteeing a $10million bonus on top of the winners cheque of $1.35million.
“As of right now, I’m two back and have an opportunity to win the tournament, that’s what I’m going to focus on on Sunday.” said Woods.
Perry knows that he needs to replicate his performance in the final round to have a chance himself, but is looking forward to the challenge.
“Here I am at 49, I’m still trying to beat him, I have fun with it. He’d better bring his ‘A’ game is all I’ve got to say.” said Perry.
Padraig Harrington, who had begun the day one shot behind Woods, could only manage 71 in his round including three birdies and four bogeys and he will start the final day five shots behind Perry.
