Ernie Els beat off the challenge of the UK’s Luke Donald to win the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida yesterday.
Els scored four birdies in his final round of 67 to finish six under, one ahead of Donald, for his win first on in the United States for almost four years.
“I’m so excited,” Els said, whose last win in America was the Memorial in June 2004. “It’s been a long time coming.”

About time Els claimed another title in America. I’ve been tipping him to come good for ages now and finally it’s paid off! Thought Donald was going to pip him at the end but Ernie held on.
