simon dyson sets sights on US Masters place
Simon Dyson was ‘buzzing’ after his win at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews on Monday, achieved with a closing 66 that he said was the best round of his career.
The win takes Dyson top of Europe’s Ryder Cup points table and moves him into eighth position in this years Tour money list and up to 44th in the World rankings.
He will be focusing on staying in the top fifty of the world rankings until the end of the year with his heart set on a place among the US Masters field. That will be his motivation as he tees off in Portugal next week for his first ever Masters at the Augusta National.
“That’s the one I want to go for,” said the 31-year-old, after beating new money list leader Rory McIlroy and Oliver Wilson by three at St Andrews.
Dyson also has his eye on a place among the Ryder Cup squad for next year and clearly feels that he has something to bring to the team, saying;
“Just like Garcia had everybody feeding off his energy, I hope that what’s what I can bring to the team if I make it. That’s what I tried to bring to the last two Seve Trophy teams, and it seems to get everybody up for it like I am.”
Dyson was part of the Britain and Ireland team that retained the Vivendi Trophy, formerly the Seve Trophy, over Europe last month.
