The BMW Golf Travel Cover is a very stylish looking travel bag made from durable black and silver nylon with white zips and trim. White BMW Golfsport emblem adorns each side. Inside, the bag includes two straps to secure your golf bag with extra quilted padding at one end to help protect your club heads. There are two solidly built inline skate wheels attached to one end and the bottom of the travel bag has a hard protective PVC plate.

The protection and safety of golf clubs are paramount when transporting them (we’ve all heard scare stories involving baggage handlers!) but the other main concern when travelling is how easy it is to move a golf travel bag once it is loaded with everything you want to take with you.

The BMW Golfsports Travel Cover is a perfect companion. At the opposite end to the skate wheels there is a padded nylon handle with which pulling even the heaviest golf bag is made extremely easy. Alternatively, you can use the nylon padded shoulder strap that stretches the length of the bag or carry the bag using the nylon handles that come complete with padding and Velcro.

Of the three ways available I found holding the loaded travel cover by the handles was awkward and hard work. Using the shoulder strap allowed me to pull my suitcase at the same time, though this can be a little stressful in a crowded airport where it appeared everyone and their child wanted to knock into the bag. If you are travelling with a partner and sharing a suitcase then pulling a bag each is most definitely recommended, until you find a trolley!

The travel cover was tested with a return flight from London Heathrow to Cyprus. The bag protected my golf clubs and bag perfectly, was simple to use and a stylish addition to my luggage.

The BMW Golf Travel Cover is £69.95 rrp

Print a poster of your favourite golf moment in history! It’s easy inspiration with online printing.

How do you pick just the right single image for mounting on your wall? With so many pictures available to be viewed on the internet, not to mention the ease with which we can capture our own using a digital camera, combined with the access to pictures that our friends on social networks provide for us, it can be hard to choose just what is worth preserving. When adorning the wall of your office at work, perhaps, or your study or workshop at home (or maybe the downstairs loo, or any other space for that matter), often the ideal item is an eye-catching poster, one that has personal significance.

Given the mind-boggling convenience that online printing provides, the choice can seem overwhelming. For each of us, however, there is usually a way to narrow it down. For some, it will be a pivotal sporting moment, i.e. lovers of showjumping will choose a favourite horse or rider whose grace, harmonious movement and winning determination are all summed up together in a particular moment when leaping a fence during a top competition. The football fan will seek an image depicting their star player at full tilt on the football field at the split second when football boot and ball make contact, the vanquished opponent looking crushed and yet at the same time impressed just within the frame.

For golfers, the ‘Ancient Game’ can be a religion, its champion protagonists, great heroes. Nothing is more uplifting to the true fan than that incomparable shot, most probably a teeing off moment, when the most admired golfer in one’s personal gallery of all-time greats completes the follow-through, club aloft and a distant look in the eyes telling the viewer what an impressive distance the ball just travelled.

Online print services enable you direct from your PC to order in poster size a great copy of that dream photograph ready for framing, whether taken originally from a snapshot of your own or from a professional photograph. Typical high-spec suppliers use top-quality offset and short-run digital printing with a range of sizes on offer up to 24” to 36”. Colours and finish are vibrant and sharp. It is all you need in order to preserve that glorious sporting moment!

New York diamond brand Kwiat has partnered with top women’s golfer Cristie Kerr to design an exclusive collection to benefit the Birdies For Breast Cancer charity.

The partnership officially launches at the Wendy’s Challenge, which takes place at the Rio Secco Golf Club in Las Vegas on December 19th 2009 and will continue through 2010.

The Birdies For Breast Cancer Collection is inspired by Kwiat’s signature Platinum Star Collection and includes a pair of delicate drop earrings as well as a pendant of the same design.

Cristie Kerr will wear both pieces on tour through 2010. She says of the new partnership:

“I am delighted to have Kwiat join us in our mission to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. The earrings and pendant that they created are truly stunning. Our hope is that these subtle pieces will serve as a reminder of those we have lost to the disease, and hope for the future.”

Following the launch at Wendy’s Challenge the collection will debut to the public at Kwiat’s Madison Avenue flagship boutique. The collection will later be made available at Kwiat in Las Vegas and all other Kwiat retailers.

Kwiat will be donating 10% of all proceeds directly to benefit Birdies For Cancer.

Dom Joly’s Golfing Greats, Gaffes & Goofs DVD is to released on 1st December

The DVD is a collection of great golf, including some fantastic hole-in-one shots, some funny mishaps, including Richard Finch falling into the water at this year’s Irish Open; and some humorous clips including animals on golf courses. Animals include a vicious duck attacking a golfer attempting to help her stranded ducklings out of a bunker, a stubborn swan, a thieving seagull and a cheeky monkey!

This collection of golf clips is introduced and narrated by funny man Dom Joly. It also includes new golf sketches with familiar Dom Joly humour, as he does his best to annoy everyone on the golf course. In character, Joly shows his disgust for ladies being allowed to play golf, and old people ‘getting in the way’ and smelling of “wee”!

Best known for his tv comedy series Trigger Happy, this humorous DVD is released just in time for Christmas, and follows Dom Joly’s very amusing and successful, Letters To My Golf Club, which was released in 2007.

Dom Joly’s Golfing Greats, Gaffes & Goofs DVD is approximately 60 minutes long and a perfect Christmas stocking filler for any golfer with a good sense of humour. RRP £19.99

In every life, there are roads taken and untaken, choices made and dreams abandoned. And then there’s golf. As a teenager, Tom Cox dreamed of sporting immortality. For four years he devoted himself to the game he loved. And then, one day, he walked away. But as he got older, those dreams kept coming back.

Perhaps it was turning thirty, perhaps it was winning his local club’s scratch championship, perhaps it was having his first hole in one, but he decided it was time to start again, to live the dream for real. So he switched off his computer, grabbed his checked trousers and headed for the golf course. To turn pro. There are two ways of becoming a full-time professional sportsman. The first and most favoured approach goes something like this: be born gifted; take up your chosen game early; practise incredibly hard; let nothing stand in your way. The second is more controversial. Just turn up. As long as you’re wearing the right socks, you should be OK

The reviews for this book are enough for me to add it to my Christmas list, along with Dom Joly’s Letters to my Golf Club.

This book presents a hilarious account of one man’s pursuit of his dreams.

The letters are written under various pseudonyms and include outrageous requests. Will the Club Secretary clamp down on ilicit dog-fighting on their premises? Will the Board allow Snoop Dogg to be filmed golfing on drugs? How will the groundsman cope with accusations of dwarf-tossing?

There is a great book review on the Golf in London blog. As the review points out, Dom Joly isn’t the first to tread this path. In fact Joly himself acknowledges a few in his introduction – The Henry Root Letters by William Donaldson, The Timewaster Letters by Robin Cooper or Letters from a Nut by Ted L.
A great Christmas stocking filler.

Christmas is coming and the worst thing you can do is let your extended family know you are now obsessed with golf!

Armed with this information you can place a golf bet they are going to replace disgusting socks and whacky unwearable cartoon character ties with tacky, cheap throw away golf gear, aids, books and memorabilia.

Whether from Poundland, SportsWorld or the market what is it with people who cannot grasp the concept that you cannot buy Callaway, Ping, Cutter & Buck or Galvin Green from the same places that sell crap!

Furthermore, its even worse knowing they have wasted £15 on a box of Donnay golf balls because ‘they look the same’ as Pro V1’s or relations caring enough to spend out on a pair of golf shoes. But as you open the wrapping paper as carefully as possible, you see the word Dunlop when you will only wear Footjoys.

Yes, I know its the thought that counts. But if they are only going to think that much, then I’d rather recieve gift vouchers.

Unless they know the difference between Callaway, Taylor Made, Ping with Dunlop and Donnay then you will have to keep your mouth shut and hope for the best or tell them straight up. Golf is not just the swing, it’s the fashion, the labels and the style.
